Onwort Story open-book reader with a German sentence and illustration of a robot in a classroom

Choose a story

The current story shelf presents three illustrated episodes: Der Sonntagsroboter, Schüler Nummer einundzwanzig, and Pass und Ketchup. Each gives learners a short reading and listening session, along with ten new words to meet in context. The covers, duration, and word count make choosing a story feel simple and inviting.

A shelf that works on smaller screens

The same story selection adapts to a narrow screen. Illustrated covers remain the focus; the selected story reveals its English title, approximate length, new-word count, and a clear “Open and listen” action.

Read with the narration

The desktop reader opens like a book. A German sentence sits alongside its English meaning and an illustration. Narration moves through the pages so listening and reading can reinforce one another instead of competing for attention.

See meaning in the moment

On a phone, the reading page arranges the illustration, German sentence, English translation, and vocabulary note in a vertical flow. Color marks selected words, and a star lets learners keep a word they want to revisit.

New words inside the story

Pass und Ketchup shows how new vocabulary appears in context rather than as an isolated list. The translation and the short word notes help the learner connect a phrase to its meaning while the story continues.

Keep the words that matter

The My Words panel brings saved vocabulary together with English meanings. Stars let a learner mark words while reading and come back to them afterward.

Listen at your own pace

The reader offers slow, normal, and fast voice options. Learners can show or hide English and choose whether the spoken word is shaded as the narration progresses. These controls let the same story support different levels of confidence.
